To register and set up your fundraising page for Brain Tumour Research, please click this link: https://givp.nl/register/Ki2KSnZl. It takes just a few seconds to get set up.
Our Facebook Challenge Group has been set up for people fundraising for Brain Tumour Research. This challenge is all about a group working towards a common goal. These challenges take a lot of time and resources to run, and we risk losing money if the funds raised are donated to a different organisation. If you’d like to fundraise for a different cause, we recommend getting in touch with that charity directly and asking the best way you can support them.
Once you have successfully registered, set up your JustGiving page and got your first donation, you will be eligible to receive your FREE cycling jersey and printed mile tracker.
Getting your first donation will automatically trigger us posting your free goodies. Please allow up to 10 working days for these to arrive with you.
Remember, if you register under a name that is different to your name on Facebook, please include both in the sign-up form where indicated. Failure to do this will mean you will not receive your free cycling jersey and printed tracker in the post, because we won’t be able to match your fundraising page to a registration form.
Once you have registered and set up your JustGiving page for Brain Tumour Research, getting your first donation will automatically trigger us sending your free gift out to you.
An easy way to get your fundraising page started is to donate yourself or can ask a friend, family member or colleague to donate to your page.
A great way to get the ball rolling is to share your fundraising page as widely as possible.
If you are raising funds via JustGiving, click the ‘share’ button on your page to share it on all your social media channels, as well as via email and WhatsApp.
Please allow 10 working days after getting your first donation for our volunteers to ship out your cycling jersey and printed tracker to you. We appreciate your support as you continue to raise vital funds to help us get closer to finding a cure for this devastating disease.
At present, we do not stock our cycling jerseys in children’s sizes. However, should your child wish to take part in the challenge with you, we have children’s Brain Tumour Research t-shirts available to purchase on our store here: https://shop.braintumourresearch.org/products/childrens-t-shirt
Please refer to the size guide below for assistance when ordering:

Please use the below guide to help determine which size cycling jersey to order:
Please note, our cycling jerseys are designed to be a skin-tight athletic fit for aerodynamics. If you’d rather have a looser-fitting jersey, we recommend ordering two sizes up from your usual size.
If you are taking part as a family or group and would like to purchase additional cycling jerseys to match, please visit our shop here: shop.braintumourresearch.org/products/cycle-jersey
Your cycling jersey and printed tracker will be posted to you once you have registered, set up your JustGiving page and got your first donation. Please allow up to 10 working days for your free goodies to arrive with you. This accounts for any potential delays in the postal system.
Whilst you wait for your cycling jersey and tracker to arrive, you can access your downloadable fundraising pack which includes lots of useful tools to help with your fundraising, as well as a printable tracker so you can get started with your challenge. Download your fundraising pack here.
Due to the number of amazing supporters taking part in this challenge, we are unable to change the size of your cycling jersey. If your cycling jersey is too small and unwearable, please email cycle274@braintumourresearch.org and we will see how we can assist.
To qualify for a FREE cycling jersey each person taking part needs to register under their own name and set up a JustGiving page. Once they have got their first donation, this will trigger the free gift to be sent to the person who registered and set up the page for Brain Tumour Research.
We understand that some people prefer to take part as a team, register under one name and set up one fundraising page for the whole team to use. In this instance, you will still only be able to receive one FREE cycling jersey. However, you can buy additional cycling jerseys from our shop here: shop.braintumourresearch.org/products/cycle-jersey
Welcome back! We’re thrilled to have you on the team for 2023. If you have previously taken part in the Cycle 274 Miles in August Challenge and raised vital funds for Brain Tumour Research, you will also receive a FREE insulated water bottle, along with your cycling jersey, upon getting your first donation. It’s our way of saying a little thank you for your continued support.
We hope you’ll enjoy this challenge as much as you have in previous years – don’t forget to support your fellow cyclists in the Facebook Group here.
How do I increase my donations?
Uh oh – they did it again!
Unfortunately, as some of you may already be aware, we are experiencing technical difficulties with Facebook which means our lovely supporters aren’t able to collect donations using Facebook’s fundraising platform.
We know how hard you work to complete your challenge and collect donations for us. You deserve to have the best experience with your online fundraising, and we’re putting measures in place to ensure it’s as hitch-free as possible.
That’s why, for this challenge, we recommend you use JustGiving to raise vital funds. It only takes a few seconds to set up a JustGiving page, and it’s so easy to share the link with your friends, family and colleagues online, via text message or WhatsApp, as well as on Facebook and other social media too!
If you prefer to use a different online platform (for example GoFundMe) that’s fine too. You can also raise funds offline and pay them in after completing your challenge – download a sponsorship form here.
If you need help setting up your fundraising page, please email us via cycle274@braintumourresearch.org. Our challenge team will be on hand throughout to guide you with anything you may need and we’re SO excited to see how you get on!
Here are some top tips to help you achieve your first donation and trigger your FREE cycling jersey and printed mile tracker:
- Donate to your own JustGiving page to get it off the mark as this will encourage others to donate to help you achieve your target
- Share your JustGiving page on all of your social platforms with your family, friends and colleagues letting them know why you are taking on the challenge and explaining that they can support you and donate in just a few clicks £2 minimum on JustGiving and anything they can give will make a difference
For more top fundraising tips throughout the challenge, head to our friendly Facebook Group here: www.facebook.com/groups/113054788463073
It’s a proven fact that the more you share your fundraising page across your own social platforms, the more donations you will get.
- Click the ‘share’ button (you’ll find this at the top of your JustGiving page) and follow the steps to post it to your own social media pages and/or copy and paste the link (URL) to share it via email, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp or any other social platforms to ask for donations from friends, family and colleagues
- If you have a personal connection to brain tumours which you don’t mind sharing, tell your story on your fundraising page and when you post this on your social media channels as you ask for donations – when your friends and family see how much raising vital funds for Brain Tumour Research means to you, they will be inspired to support you
- Keep sharing updates throughout your Cycle 274 Miles in August Challenge – post photos of you taking part, share how many miles you’ve completed so far and include the link to your fundraising page asking people to donate
- Post photos of your printed tracker with daily or weekly milestones achieved – you could even encourage people to join you explaining that there are so many easy ways they too can complete 274 miles in a month and support a great cause
- Don’t forget to share a photo of you in your FREE cycling jersey and let people know why you are supporting Brain Tumour Research
If you can no longer join us for the Cycle 274 Miles in August Challenge, don’t worry. If you’ve already registered you don’t need to do anything, nothing will happen.
If you have already opened a JustGiving page, you can choose to keep it open and continue to collect donations to help fund the fight against brain tumours or choose to close it if you would prefer.
There are lots of apps and fitness watches that can track your activity for you and lots of phones have a built-in tracker. Screenshots of your app or fitness watch can be uploaded to your fundraising page and shared with your friends and family on your personal social media pages to help encourage donations. You can even handwrite your miles on your printed tracker which we will send to you once you get your first donation.
Let your fellow challengers know you are getting on by posting in our friendly Facebook group here: www.facebook.com/groups/113054788463073We ask you to raise £137 or more to receive a medal because that figure represents the equivalent of 5% of the cost of a day’s research at one of our Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence, which is an amazing achievement.
As a charity, we must be careful where we invest the money raised by our supporters so we can maximise funds for the vital research that is so desperately needed if we are to find a cure for brain tumours. For this challenge, we are giving away a free cycling jersey and printed tracker, which have a variety of costs associated, and so it is not possible to give away a medal as well at this time. We really appreciate the effort our supporters are putting in right now, particularly in the current climate. We understand that many are facing a difficult time – including charities – and we do really appreciate all donations we receive of any value.
Many supporters have already achieved their £137 target and more! For some helpful fundraising tips, check out your digital fundraising pack and keep an eye on the Facebook Group for regular help from Brain Tumour Research.
We will begin sending out the FREE special medals in batches in September to those who have raised £137 on their fundraising page and signed up correctly.
Well done on achieving £137 or
more! This represents the equivalent of 5% of the cost of a day’s research at
one of our Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence and is a great
achievement. We are so grateful to you for your hard work and determination in
raising these vital funds.
Medals are being sent throughout September
to celebrate that great achievement. Once you have raised £137, you will automatically
become eligible to receive a medal. You do not need to do anything or
contact anyone to receive your medal.
Firstly, we want to let you know
how much we appreciate the effort our supporters are putting in right now,
particularly in the current climate. We understand many people are facing a
difficult time and we do really appreciate all donations we receive of any
value.
We understand the desire to
purchase a medal. However, currently this isn’t possible. This is due to our
policy of recognising those who raise £137, which represents the equivalent of
5% of the cost of a day’s research at one of our Brain Tumour Research Centres
of Excellence. Those who go on to raise £2,740 to sponsor a full day of
research at one of our Research Centres can place a tile on our Wall of Hope.
In addition, we find many of our supporters enjoy having a donation target and
a reward for meeting this goal.
We understand some of you may be
disappointed by this, however, we hope the FREE cycling jersey and printed
tracker you receive for getting your first donation will also be a great
reminder of your amazing achievement.
We hope you understand. Thank you
once again and best of luck with the challenge.
If you raise £137 or more, which represents the equivalent of 5% of the cost of a day’s research, our team will send you a FREE special medal in June. If you’d prefer not to receive a medal, please email us via cycle274@braintumourresearch.org and our team will be able to update your preferences.
Yes, you do! If you raise £2,740 or more you can sponsor a day of research at one of our Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence.
You will be contacted about the creation of a unique tile, including a special message, placed on our Wall of Hope at the Research Centre of your choice.
You can find out more here in the meantime- www.braintumourresearch.org/fundraise/sponsor-a-day
How do I collect and pay in offline donations?
We understand that there will be people who wish to donate in cash and that’s no problem! You can still collect donations from those people.
Download the sponsorship form which is included in your digital fundraising pack, which you can find here. This is a great tool to carry with you to collect donations on the go.
Please ensure your name and ‘Cycle 274 Miles in August Challenge’ are always quoted as a reference so we can add these funds to your total. You can add this information in the comments box at the end of making your donation.
Important: Please can we ask you NOT to pay cash donations into your own bank to transfer them to your fundraising page. This goes against Facebook guidelines and can result in Meta placing a security barrier on your account. This can cause the loss of your donate button, fundraising page or even you becoming banned from future fundraising under their anti-money laundering policies. We understand it would be helpful to see all your donations in one place but rest assured if you pay them in, our team will attribute these funds to you to give you one overall total at the end of your challenge.
Any offline donations will be added to your overall fundraising total at the end of your challenge and will count towards reaching that £137 to get your FREE special medal.
Alternatively, for those who are happy to donate via card, you can set up a JustGiving page here.
A JustGiving link can also be shared via WhatsApp, text message and email, as well as across all your social media pages.
If you have any cheques to pay in, please send us the cheque along with your full contact details (full name and salutation, address and postcode, a contact phone number and email address) so we can send a thank you email or letter.
Please make cheques payable to:
