Dedicated Brain Tumour Research supporter and campaigner Nicki Hopkins (pictured left) was at No 10 Downing Street yesterday evening where she met the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at a reception of Community Champions.
Nicki was nominated for the honour by her MP Holly Mumby-Croft (pictured left with Nicki and the PM) in recognition of all she has done since her beloved husband Dave (aka Did) was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) from which he died just 14 months later in November 2021.
It was as Nicki and Did were struggling to come to terms with his diagnosis that Nicki first reached out to Holly. This led to Holly raising the couple’s case in Parliament with a Prime Minister’s Question and later to Holly sitting on the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Brain Tumours (APPGBT) and working as a committed member of the Pathway to a Cure – breaking down the barriers inquiry panel.
We congratulate Nicki, who has also set up Team Hopkins – Winning for Did Fundraising Group raising more than £48,000 to raise awareness and help find a cure, on this well-deserved recognition at the highest levels and thank her for all her incredible efforts for the brain tumour cause.
