On International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we are celebrating the inspiring female researchers at our Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence.

To mark the occasion, our Communications Officer, Liz Fussey, interviewed two women who are undertaking pioneering research at our Research Centres to help find a cure. She spoke to Professor Silvia Marino MD FRCPath, who leads the team at our Centre of Excellence at Queen Mary University of London, and Dr Sylwia Ammoun PhD, MSc, a Senior Research Fellow at our University of Plymouth Centre.

In this insightful and interesting interview, they answered questions about choosing to pursue brain tumour research, equality in the field, the challenges facing women in science, and career progression and longevity.

Liz also caught up with Dr Karen Noble PhD, our newly-appointed Director of Research, Policy and Innovation. With a wealth of experience, including 20 years of grants and research management experience working in the life sciences sector, Karen offered her advice to women setting out on a career in science.
