A singer who competed on BBC One’s I Can See Your Voice has released a single to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research.
Denise Scott, a.k.a. Pop Princess, appeared on the mystery singing game show last weekend and wowed a panel of celebrity judges with her rendition of Into the Unknown from the film Frozen 2. Amanda Holden was moved to say: “It’s a huge song and I knew she had the pipes for it all the way through” while Jimmy Carr remarked: “It’s a wonderful voice you’ve got.”
Now, Denise is raising funds for Brain Tumour Research inspired by her friend, Kirsten Vidal (pictured left with Denise), who has recently been diagnosed with the disease. Kirsten, who lives in North Carolina, USA, was diagnosed with three glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) brain tumours after her husband noticed her face had dramatically drooped. Two of the tumours were removed in early January, but have already grown back, and the other is the size of an orange. After a stroke brought on by surgery, Kirsten is now partially paralysed and in a wheelchair.
Inspired by her friend’s diagnosis and unable to physically help her, Denise decided to do some fundraising and has released a charity single with her husband Russell Scott.
She said: “Shocked at Kirsten’s diagnosis and at how deadly brain tumours are, Russell and I have recorded the song For Good from the musical Wicked. It has the line: ‘Thank you for being my friend’ so we thought it very fitting. Our track is available on Spotify and Apple iTunes. Proceeds will raise funds for Brain Tumour Research to find more effective treatments and ultimately a cure for this devastating disease.”
