Year of the Dragon helps bring hope

As today marks Chinese New Year (Saturday 10th February) and the start of the Year of the Dragon, we look forward to the 21st Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival which is being held in aid of Brain Tumour Research.

The popular annual racing event will take place on Saturday 6th July 2024 at Willen Lake to raise awareness of this devastating disease and money for vital research.

Up to 48 teams will compete over the 200m racecourse, watched by several thousand spectators. Bankside entertainment, food stalls and a host of activities will be on offer for all the family to enjoy.

Fun-filled and adrenaline pumping, dragon boat racing is the fastest growing water activity in the UK. Up to 10 people paddle each 30ft boat with a drummer at the front beating time and a professional helmsperson – provided by organisers NewWave Events – at the tail to steer a straight course. No previous experience is required.

It’s the perfect activity for team bonding and corporate days out, while raising money for Brain Tumour Research, bringing hope to patients and their families, and helping us get one step closer to a cure.
