Today (7th December) our thoughts are with the family and friends of Aman Sumal on the second anniversary of his death.
Aman, a civil engineer from West London, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) after suffering a seizure and headaches in August 2020.
He underwent chemotherapy and intensive radiotherapy while his family privately-funded a protocol with an Australian naturopath and turned to crowdfunding as a way to source private immunotherapy treatment and specifically-formulated vaccines, raising £75,000 in just 24 hours and more than £173,000 overall.
Sadly, Aman’s health continued to deteriorate and he died in December 2021, aged 36, leaving behind his two-year-old son, Rajan, and heartbroken wife, Jasdip, who subsequently gave birth to their daughter, Amandeep.
Since Aman’s death, more than £10,000 has been raised for us in his name, resulting in his family attending a lab tour at our Centre of Excellence at Queen Mary University of London.
His sister, Sonia Sandhu, took part in our Jog 26.2 Miles in May Challenge, raising more than £3,250, and his brother-in-law, Suki Sandhu, has taken part in several fundraisers, including running the TCS London Marathon in April, raising more than £7,150.
Ahead of today’s anniversary, Sonia said: “As we approach the second anniversary of Aman’s passing, it is difficult to put into words the loss we all feel as a family. We continue to navigate a way forward that is unknown to us all but we hold onto our precious memories.
“We have been fortunate to be blessed with the birth of Amandeep. Aman’s legacy will continue to live on through us all, and especially his children.”
