Fitness fanatic inspires 30 for 30 challenge

Josh Brown, the inspiration for our Fundraising Group Fighting for a Cure, set up by his sister Kimberlei (pictured above with Josh), is being remembered throughout November and especially on the 15th which would have been his 34th birthday.

Kimberlei said: “Josh would be at the gym nearly every day, even throughout his treatment. It brought him happiness and helped his mental health. I will always remember when Josh would lean over and increase my bike settings to make me work harder!”

Aged 25, Josh was diagnosed with a pilocytic astrocytoma after experiencing nausea in the gym and excruciating headaches after gym sessions, which led to balance and coordination problems also.

Despite surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, nothing could save Josh and he died aged 29 in 2019.

#Gainz4Brainz asks people to sign up to do 30 repetitions or 30 minutes of any exercise they choose over 30 days – whether it’s lifting weights, walking or yoga for 30 minutes, 30 star jumps, push ups or squats.

To register for #Gainsz4Brainz go to Gainz for Brainz – Brain Tumour Research. A registration fee of £13.50 to Brain Tumour Research will entitle the registrant to a charity t-shirt and wristband that can be worn for social media posts. Fighting for a Cure is hoping that participants will set up a sponsorship page to help reach a target of £2,740 collectively – enough to sponsor another day of research.
