A mother-of-three who has an incurable brain tumour is calling on everyone to help make a “Christmas miracle” come true by donating what they can to help find a cure for the disease.
On day nine of our Advent Appeal, Linda Goode, 51, shares a dose of festive spirit with elf ears, a red and green bobble hat and a message of hope.
Linda, who is mum to Jonah, Ben and Mia, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) in October 2021 after suffering speech problems and seizures. It is a highly aggressive type of brain tumour which has a devastatingly short prognosis of just 12-18 months.
The freelance PE teacher and advisor, from East Sussex, has undergone surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy and she remained stable until a scan this summer showed her tumour had grown. Her story has inspired friends and family to raise more than £30,000 for our charity.
Linda said: “Funding for research is vital to ensure there’s a pathway to a cure for people like me. I’d love to be a mum for longer and am hoping for lots more Christmases with my family but, if I’m not around, I’d like to think other people going through what I am, have hope. I would urge everyone to support the Brain Tumour Research Advent Appeal to help turn that hope into a reality.”
