A dinner dance held by one of our incredible Fundraising Groups has raised an astonishing total of more than £20,000 in memory of a much-loved husband, son, friend and colleague who died almost 17 years after his diagnosis with a brain tumour.
Beth Wright (pictured in the sparkly dress next to Matt Price) who runs Boogie at the Biscuit, along with a team of friends, organised the third dinner dance at The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle-upon-Tyne after previous hugely successful party nights in 2019 and 2021. All three events have marked the anniversary of Beth’s beloved husband Kieran O’Sullivan, who died on 15th November 2018, aged 44, just two months after having to leave the career he loved in the RAF. He had reached the rank of Wing Commander, but had been cited as having the potential to rise to Air Commodore.
Kieran underwent surgery after being diagnosed with a grade 2 astrocytoma after a car accident when he lost consciousness at the wheel. His view all along was “not to let the tumour dictate my life and how to live it”. Despite further surgeries and contending with seizures, Kieran succeeded in living his life to the full for as long as he possibly could.
Community Development Manager, Matt Price, was one of 223 guests invited to dress in black tie or sparkles, at the 2023 Boogie at the Biscuit. Representing the charity, Matt spoke about the need for greater funding to help find better outcomes for brain tumour patients.
The fun-filled evening included a delicious three-course meal, a raffle and auction, as well as entertainment from renown party band Madhen, all helping bring Boogie at the Biscuit’s fundraising total to more than £65,000 – an incredible legacy for Kieran.
