Asha remembers her beloved mum in our Advent Appeal

1 min read

On day eight of our Advent Appeal, a supporter from South London is remembering her mother who she lost to a brain tumour, when she was just 11 years old.

Asha Patel, 36, said her mum is in her thoughts every day since her sad passing. Madhumati Ladwa was diagnosed after suffering with headaches and seizures and died in June 1999, shortly before celebrating her 38th birthday.

Inspired by the grandmother she never had the chance to meet, Asha’s eight-year-old daughter recently planned her own swimathon to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research. Leia completed the challenge in October, which saw her swim 140 lengths in just seven days.

Asha and Leia also teamed-up to take part in a 24-hour ‘kickathon’ to fundraise for the father of one of Leia’s school friends, Sam Suriakumar, who is currently undergoing treatment for a brain tumour.

Now, Asha is urging people to support our campaign and help find a cure for brain tumours. Open door eight of our Advent Calendar to watch her message: www.braintumourresearch.org/pages/advent-appeal

And stay tuned for a special Christmas Eve message from Sam!
