MP acknowledges bereaved mum’s charity support

A mum who has raised thousands for Brain Tumour Research after losing her son to the disease has been recognised by her MP.

Anum Qaisar MP (pictured) has lodged an Early Day Motion (EDM) to acknowledge the fundraising of her constituent Nadia Majid. EDMs are used to put on record the views of individual MPs or to draw attention to specific events or campaigns.

The motion congratulates Nadia on completing the 10,000 Steps a Day in February challenge and “commends her for raising over £10,000 to support those suffering from the devastating impacts of a brain tumours diagnosis”.

Nadia’s support of Brain Tumour Research is inspired by the loss of her four-year-old son Rayhan, who died on 7th April 2018, just four months after he was diagnosed with a high-grade medulloblastoma

Last year, Nadia and her husband Sarfraz set up a Fundraising Group called Remembering Rayhan in the hope of bringing about better outcomes for patients diagnosed with brain tumours in the future.

As well as noting the work of Brain Tumour Research, the motion “acknowledges Nadia’s longstanding commitment to campaigning in memory of Rayhan; and hopes that Rayhan’s legacy will go on to inspire others to join the fight against brain tumour disease”.

The motion can be read in full online: https://edm.parliament.uk/early-day-motion/60698 and you can contact your MP to ask them to sign it to acknowledge Nadia’s contribution.
