Dear [Insert name of Headteacher]

Wear A Hat Day 2019

I’ve come across a brilliant event that the school could get involved in. Wear A Hat Day raises funds for research into finding a cure for brain tumours. In 2019, it takes place on Friday 29th March but if the school can’t make that date, it can simply choose another that’s more convenient.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.

So far, Wear A Hat Day has raised over £1 million, which is an incredible achievement! Thousands of school children across the country will be taking part in colourful, hat-themed events. It would be fantastic if our school took part. It would be the perfect opportunity to bring the whole school together and have fun in support of a vital cause.

I don’t know if our school has any pupils with a brain tumour connection but, if it has, it would make getting involved even more appropriate.

Wear A Hat Day could be something simple – just wearing a hat and donating on the day would be great – but maybe the school could get a local sports personality involved or organise a hat quiz, have a hatty lunch, hold a hattastic fashion show, sell Wear A Hat Day pin badges or bake hat-themed cakes. I’m sure there would be lots of great ideas!

It’s quick and easy to sign up for Wear A Hat Day on the Brain Tumour Research: website

It would be great if the school signed up, set a target of £200 and went on to smash it to help make Wear A Hat Day 2019 the biggest, boldest and hattiest EVER!

I look forward to hearing from you,
