On Yer Bike for Brain Tumour Research
Help us fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
Saturday 23rd February 2019
Join us on Saturday 23rd February for On Yer Bike – a national spinathon event to raise funds for vital research.
There are three ways you can take part in this event, wherever you are in the country:
If you'd like to lead a team...
We are looking for individuals to pull together groups of willing spinners who will champion their sponsorship challenge and aim to raise £2,740 per team in order to sponsor days of research at our UK Centres of Excellence.
Team leaders will be willing to convince their local gym (or other location) to allow this fundraising event to take place. You and your team don’t need to super-fit to take part and you can choose time, mileage or calorie-burn targets to suit you. Be flexible and keep it fun!
If you'd like to join a team...
Carol Robertson, our Head of Community Fundraising, is acting as our On Yer Bike National Co-ordinator – contact her on email@example.com or 07817 878407 to register your interest. She will store your details and connect you with a local team.
If there isn’t a team forming near you then you could form a team yourself – we’d love to help you with that! – or go superhero-solo.
Share your story and watch your fundraising target levels rise
We have built our charity on the stories of those affected by this devastating disease. Our stories pages are one of the most visited areas of our website. If you’re taking on this challenge because a brain tumour has affected you or your family and you’d like to tell your story, we have a sensitive and professional media team who you can talk to.
We can help you raise much-needed awareness with your story in the media. This publicity will likely encourage further donations and sponsorship for your event, bringing you closer to smashing your target.
Promote your event
Please check back here later this year to find our On Yer Bike 2019 promotional posters.
Inspired by Paul Halfpenny
The original On Yer Bike event was organised by two brilliant and passionate supporters, Paul and Jen Halfpenny from Glossop in Derbyshire. Paul was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2010 and sadly passed away in June 2014, age 37, after what was described as “a heroic four-and-a-half-year battle” against the devastating disease.
Paul’s wife Jen held a special On Yer Bike 2015 event in memory of Paul and, combined with the previous two years’ events, raised tens of thousands of pounds to support brain tumour research, helping to improve outcomes for others affected by a brain tumour.
