Brain Tumour Research is an ambitious charity, passionate about finding a cure for brain tumours through the establishment of dedicated Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence around the UK and challenging the Government and larger cancer charities to increase the national investment for research into brain tumours to £35 million a year and bring parity with other cancers.

Our vision is to find a cure for all types of brain tumours. Our mission is to increase the UK investment in brain tumour research.

Following a year of change we are looking to grow our team in order to increase our contribution to the national investment in brain tumour research and to do more of our vital campaigning work in line with our 2025 strategy.

Communications Officer

Brain Tumour Research is offering a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to further their career in marketing and communications, whilst making a difference at one of the most innovative and ambitious medical research fundraising charities in the UK as Communications Officer.

Position: Communications Officer

Location: Head office in Milton Keynes – hybrid working (minimum of 3 days in the office)

Salary: Up to £35k per annum

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week

Benefits: Holiday entitlement, 25 days per annum, excluding UK Public Holidays, access to a Employee Assistance Programme and option to join our healthcare scheme.

About the Role

Brain Tumour Research is looking for a Communications Officer who will build loyalty with our supporters through the production of fully integrated supporter communications. These include Believe (our magazine for brain tumour activists), Latest News, e-news, research updates, and other external and internal communications. Working in a small Communications team, you will also provide support to the Communications Manager in order to meet the team’s strategic objectives.

About You

Are you someone who is ambitious, curious and fun to work with? Are you task focused, organised and enjoy a challenge?

Do you have experience in:

  • demonstrating excellent copywriting and editorial skills?
  • understanding the importance of brand management?
  • conversing sensitively and empathetically with members of the public who may be going through current or recent traumatic experiences?
