To Challenge, To Conquer

There are so many who have already challenged themselves for Brain Tumour Research; from sky dives to cycle rides; sporting records to snake taming. It is not just the challenges that are extraordinary, it's the people who take them on. Here are the stories of just a few who have inspired us.

Emma Welch 16/04/01 - 04/06/15

Emma acheived more in her 14 short years than many of us could in a lifetime.

Spurred on by the diagnosis of her church minister at the time, Andrew Stammers, Emma was determined to raise as much awareness and funds for research as she could.

Despite her own daily battles with scoliosis, Emma completed three hugely physical fundrasising challenges: Scaling the height of Everest on a climbing wall (too young to climb the mountain itself); a 1,000 mile cycling challenge and poignantly set a new World Record for the greatest number of teddy-bears on a mountain summit, just days before she passed away.

Emma will always be remembered for her incredible tenacity and determination, making her a true Conquer it Together hero.

Dave Newman and Richard Wells - 48 Hour Cricket Challenge
Cricketers Dave and Richard took on a self-set 48 hour batting challenge, smashing the previously held record of 26 hours. The guys were prompted into action by the tenacity of Billingborough Cricket Club team mate, Wayne Chessum, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2008. They raised not only a phenomenal sum (Over £12,000!) but also incredible awareness.

AMV BBDO - Scotland to London Relay

The team at the 'UK's Happiest Agency' (Sunday Times) staged a week-long mega-relay race traversing the 842 miles from John O’Groats to their London Head Office in Marylebone to raise funds for research after their colleague, Tom Thake, was diagnosed and treated for a brain tumour. They had a great time and raised over £27,000 in the process!
