Centres of Hope... focusing on programmes of brain tumour research
Actor, Author and Chancellor of the University of Portsmouth, Sheila Hancock has launched a `Wall of Hope' to raise £1m for
research at the Brain Tumour Research centre of excellence at the University of Portsmouth. The wall marks the launch of
Brain Tumour Research's national £7m `Centres of Hope' fundraising campaign to raise £7m for seven centres of excellence
to get seven times closer to a cure for brain tumours.

To find a cure for brain tumours will take years of research. Research costs money.

To enable the University of Portsmouth's centre of excellence to focus on a three year programme of brain tumour research
will need £1 million per annum.
Put simply, over the course of 365 days in a year, that's £2,740 per day.
£1 million per year will pay for a team of researches and support staff, headed by a research fellow. It will also pay for the
material that they need such as tissue culture plastic ware, molecular & chemical reagents, serum and assay kits.
Can you or your organisation help us?
Could you `Sponsor a Day' of research?
In return, your organisation's logo, your event or your loved one's name will be displayed on our `Wall of Hope' calendar
at the University of Portsmouth's centre of excellend and on our website's ` Calendar of Hope'.
You will also receive an engraved plaque in recognition of your support which you can put on display. You can even choose
the special date that you would like to sponsor, which may have some particular significance to you or your organisation.
Why not sponsor more than one day?
You could choose Brain Tumour Research as your Charity of the Year and if you succeeded in raising £19,180 you would be
able to sponsor a week and your logo will appear of each of the seven days.
Or sponsor a day a year?
If you run an annual event with proceeds going to Brain Tumour Research, your logo will appear on that date each year.
If your sponsorship is in memory of a loved one, you can choose to sponsor a particular date each year, which is of significance
to your family such as their birthday.
Please Sponsor a Day or as many days as you can and help us to support sustainable programmes of brain tumour research
at the University of Portsmouth. Your help is badly needed to improve treatments and ultimately find a cure for brain tumours.
