Annual Canal Walk Event: Step out with Brain Tumour Research to raise money for vital long-term research

Saturday 27th September 2014

Grand Union Canal, Stoke Hammond to Leighton Buzzard

Join us as we weave our way along the Grand Union Canal; escape the noise and pollution of urban life.  With nice pubs, appealing views, colourful boats and wildlife, and a wealth of history, it will be a great day out for all the family.

Bring a picnic or enjoy a pub lunch, and join us in celebration the completion of the walk with a drink afterwards!

It's a 12-mile round trip, so lace up your trainers or pull on your walking shoes and join us for an enjoyable day out, come rain or shine!

Note: you are welcome to join us for just half of the Canal Walk - six miles to lunch pub, or joining us at lunchtime for the six miles back. You will need to organise your own transport back to your start point if just doing the six-mile walk.

Please sign up for this event and set a target to raise £100 in sponsorship (or more!). Together we are #FundingTheFight

Top tips for successful fundraising:  Set up a JustGiving page and choose Brain Tumour Research as your charity. Promote your page on social media and tell everyone you know to support you with a few pounds and you'll reach your (mimimum) target in no time!

You can also request a sponsorship form from us by email or call us on 01296 733011 and we'll be happy to provide that for you, and answer any other questions you may have.

Walk schedule:

Please arrive by 9.30am at the The Three Locks pub (Stoke Hammond MK17 9DD) and the walk will begin at 9.45am (start time will be staggered if there are too many walkers to all start at once).

By lunchtime we will arrive at the The Grove Lock pub (about 6 miles from the start), where you can enjoy a pub lunch or have a picnic along the canal. (If you want to purchase a pub lunch, please let our Fundraising Manager and Event Organiser Lauren Ryan know - lauren@braintumourresearch.org / 07710 390796

After lunch, we return back along the canal to where we started.

All walkers will be signed out of the event at 5.30pm - but you are all welcome to join us in the pub afterwards!
